Digital converter boxes are getting harder to find than "Tickle-Me Elmo". I've been hearing from several people who are having a hard time finding stores with converter boxes on the shelf. We did a little calling around and here's what we found.
- All of the Wal Mart's in the Midlands are out of converter boxes. In fact, the Wal Mart warehouse is out of converter boxes. No one can tell us when they will get new boxes in.
- HH Gregg tells us they have several thousand boxes on order, however they do not have a date when stores will be stocked.
- Best Buy: We called the store in Harbison, they had boxes at the time we called. I talked with the clerk a few weeks ago, he told me they get small batches in about once a week, but they sell out quick. I would call ahead.
- Circuit City: We called the store on Two Notch Road in Columbia, they had boxes at that time, but again, I would call ahead.
- Radio Shack: We called the store on Forest Drive and they had a few boxes. Radio Shack has a good deal though, if you don't mind paying up front. You can go into any Radio Shack, use your $40 coupon and pay for the box, then Radio Shack will ship you a box when they come in. Here's the best part... postage is FREE.
The best advice... call ahead! Don't waste gas running all over town trying to find a converter box.
I bought my converter boxes yesterday at WalMart in Sumter. There were plenty, but I know they go quickly. Price including tax was $26.72. The tax was almost the price of a box!

I have been waiting since May for my converter boxes from Wal-Mart. I have been placed on the waiting list to receive them. Perhaps the reason Wal-Mart is sold out is because they only cost approximately $13.00 with the coupon. My coupons have expired. What do I do at this point?
